It's Project Christmas Phase III. Gus welcomes back the Children's Dream Fund and its Executive Director, Amanda Griffin. Their mission is to help fulfill the dreams of children aged 3-21 diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses who live in West Central Florida. Today, we helped Eleanor and Raef. Three-year-old Eleanor has Downs Syndrome and recently had open heart surgery. Her dream is to get a Golden Retriever puppy. We raised enough to fulfill it. Raef is 13 and has a rare, aggressive form of blood cancer. He's also a soccer fan and wants to go to England to see his favorite team, the Manchester City Soccer Club play a game. We fell a little short of that goal, so, if you were unable to call in, but would still like to donate, you may do so by clicking here.

Also, Gus goes over some news stories of Catholic interest, including the Supreme Court agreeing to review a case against the abortion pill mifepristone. AHM v. FDA asserts that the government agency failed to go through proper safety channels when it hurriedly approved the drug in 2000. In other abortion news, a recent government accountability office report shows that nearly $2 billion of federal dollars was given to Planned Parenthood, the largest facilitator of abortions in the United States. This could possibly violate the Hyde and Helms amendments, which prevent the direct funding of abortions by U.S. taxpayers, although PPFA asserts that none of that money was used for abortion purposes.

And Gus goes over some news out of the Vatican regarding cremation. The Vatican's Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith announced that a small part of the cremated remains of a loved one can be kept in a personal place of significance.
