Today is the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a holy day of obligation, so Gus does an expanded teaching on the role of Mary in the life of the Catholic Church and the Church's teaching on her role in Christendom. He also debunks many of the popular misconceptions fostered by many non-Catholic Christians. He also invites listeners to call in and talk about how they honor Mary in their home.
Also, Gus is joined by Tim Crumlish, the new president of the new board of directors for the Notre Dame Retreat House. The house has been a place for Catholics and others to encounter Our Lord for over 50 years and was run by the Redemptorist Order. When they could no longer maintain it, they made the decision a year or so ago to sell it. A group of Catholic lay people volunteered to run it, which stopped the sale. This weekend, Gus will be speaking at a retreat going on there and talks with Tom about the rich history of the retreat house as well as what lays ahead.
Afterwards, he invites listeners who've gone on retreats to call in and talk about what their encounter with the Lord was like for them.
